Rajkot: Three fraudsters, who employed an odd approach of duping other people with the promise of doubling their cash with the assistance of a bucket and colored water, had been arrested from the circuit house in Mahuva of Bhavnagar district on Sunday.
Police said the accused, known as Imran Bhurani (35), Abdul Latif Qazi (47) and Akshay Munjpara (25), would method sufferers with a bucket stuffed with water by which they might pour black colour, after which they might put clean papers of the shape and size of currency notes. Then, they might pull out precise currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 denominations.
“The bucket had a secret chamber at its bottom, and when nothing was once visual within the black water, the accused would pick the true currency notes from it. The accused would trap the sufferers with the promise of doubling their cash. After taking cash from the sufferers, they might tell them that it was once an extended procedure and they'd name them, as soon as their cash had doubled, after which they might do the disappearing act,” said Nitin Khatana, head constable with Bhavnagar special operation crew.
The accused had been arrested following a tip-off about them looking for sufferers in Mahuva. “We sent a cop decoyed as a buyer to the accused, and whilst they had been giving him demonstration with a bucket and water, the cop exposed them via emptying the bucket and discovering the secret chamber. Before they may flee, we arrested them,” said Khatana.
Police recovered 40 bundles of clean notes, a barrel stuffed with black colour and Yugoslav dinars totalling Rs 21,000 from the accused.
During interrogation, the accused said they had duped a person in Vadodara of Rs 6.five lakh via employing identical modus operandi. “We have alerted our opposite numbers in Vadodara and advised them to safe the custody of the accused sought after in the case reported in their town,” added Khatana.
