WB: Dibrugarh-Chd train catches fire, two dead

KOLKATA: A significant accident was avoided after probably the most two locomotives of the 15904 Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express caught fireplace close to the Chatterhat station, around 20 km from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) around 11.20 am on Friday. The fireplace spread to the luggage-cum-guard van next to the locomotive. Firefighters found two our bodies from the spot, however they'd now not suffered burns. It is being suspected that they're of two unreserved passengers who panicked and jumped off the train after recognizing the flames within the locomotive. The our bodies had been moved to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.


According to P J Sharma, CPRO, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), fireplace was detected within the diesel locomotive quickly after the train crossed Chatterhat. “Immediately on receipt of information, fireplace department group of workers left NJP for the website. A railway scientific team along side accident aid train also reached the spot. The unaffected coaches had been hauled by any other locomotive to Chetterhat station. The department railway manager of Katihar and Sanjive Roy, general manager, NFR, also rushed to the website,” he said.


The our bodies had been recovered by the railway scientific team and it seems that they had been within the luggage van with unreserved tickets. As they hadn’t suffered burns, it's suspected that they died because of injuries suffered because of the have an effect on after jumping off the train. Witnesses, alternatively, claimed that several others also jumped off the train and suffered injuries. This has now not been showed though.


“Among the trains affected because of the accident had been the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Kamakhya-Puri Express, Silchar-Trivandrum Express and Kamakhya-Rajendranagar Capital Express. These trains had been diverted to run by means of Siliguri Jn – Bagdogra – Aluabari section. The unaffected coaches of the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express left Chatterhat for New Jalpaiguri around three.35 pm. An inquiry has been ordered into the accident,” Sharma added.
