BCA chooses Munaf to mentor senior cricketers

Vadodara: The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has determined to make former India cricketer Munaf Patel the mentor of its senior cricket staff. Patel have been roped in as a specialist, however his position had now not been determined since about three months.

The managing committee of the BCA met on Saturday and determined to rope in Patel as the mentor for its Ranji and senior 23 boys squads. It also cleared the appointment of former India stumper Nayan Mongia as the mentor for junior cricket that comes with the under-19 and under-16 boys groups.


Patel who had retired from all kinds of cricket in November remaining year had approached the BCA to work with it. In January, the association had accredited his request and determined to rope him in. While Patel used to be appointed as a specialist, his position with the cricketers used to be now not defined. It used to be handiest remaining month that things started shifting.


Patel has played 13 assessments and 70 One-Day International suits for India excluding three T20 internationals. He used to be part of the Indian staff that won the 2011 ICC World Cup and played a key position bagging the third highest wickets within the tournament. The BCA is anticipating that he will play a key position in making improvements to its cricketing requirements.


Mongia has been working with the BCA actively off late and used to be earlier appointed as the selector of senior after which the junior groups of the association. He had to stay on the aspect strains for a while as his son used to be enjoying for the junior staff. With his son now enjoying senior cricket, Mongia has been given duties with the junior groups.
