KOLKATA: Five West Bengal meeting seats - Islampur, Kandi, Habibpur (ST), Nowda and Bhatpara - will opt for bypolls on May 19, consistent with the Election Commission.
The bypolls have been necessitated after the sitting MLAs resigned to contest the Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier, further leader electoral officer Sanjay Basu instructed journalists that bypolls to the Darjeeling meeting constituency will also be hung on May 19.
The notification might be issued on April 22. The remaining date of submitting of nominations is April 29 and the scrutiny might be accomplished on April 30. The remaining date for withdrawal of candidature is May 2.
The counting might be accomplished together with the counting in the parliamentary election on May 23.
