CHANDIGARH: The UT management has discovered five new sewage outflow points into the N-choe, a seasonal movement that begins near the Punjab civil secretariat in Sector 2 and passes via sectors 16, 23, 36, 41 and 42 before meandering to Kajheri village and then into Mohali villages.
The building has come following the notice of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to each Panchkula and Chandigarh civic bodies owing to their failure to stop the sewage outflow into choes.
Both engineering division of the civic frame and the management have been jointly working at the issue.
“We have recognized some new points of sewage outflow. Officials of the Chandigarh municipal company have been informed to plug them,” stated T CNautiyal, member secretary, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee These new points are at Rose Garden, Shanti Kunj, Bougainvillea Garden, Sector 35, and Sector 23. “We have plugged some of them and the process to block rest is on,” stated an MC legitimate.
He stated, “These outflows are coming from industrial areas of Sector 17. Although it is rather difficult to understand that individual direction owing to many manholes and sewage strains in between, we're trying to identify the source in Sector 17 and can take action accordingly.”
The engineering division of the MC has constituted sub-division-wise choe teams to observe the N-choe and Sukhna choe to ensure that there will have to be no outflow of sewage in any of them. “Around 20 folks of different teams will track the choes steadily. Each staff will likely be headed by way of a sub-divisional officer rank of the public health wing of the engineering division. These teams will submit their report back to senior officers”, an legitimate stated.
