CR may dismantle FoBs that are over 50 yrs old

IIT Bombay submitted a file on 30 CR FOBs on CR suburban community on Monday: Sources.

After the cave in of the foot over-bridge at CSMT on March 14, the Central Railway (CR) is prone to dismantle seven foot over-bridges (FOB) in its suburban section which might be greater than 50 years old.

According to sources, IIT Bombay submitted a file on 30 CR FOBs on its suburban community on Monday.

The railways are studying the reports and can get started upkeep as in keeping with the findings.

“The reports have no longer requested for a shutdown of many FOBs – we now have already shut down bridges that the file mentions will have to be examined,” a railway authentic stated.


When requested in regards to the choice of bridges that may be dismantled, he stated that was yet to be made up our minds. “But prima facie, including two FOBs at Thane station, the number will move up to seven,” stated an officer. He stated of those seven, a couple of of them were already closed for passenger use.

Currently, there are around 190 FOBs on the Central Railway’s whole suburban community, including 99 between CSMT and Kalyan; 38 between CSMT and Mankhurd; 4 from Mahim to Kings Circle; 12 between Kalyan and Kasara; 16 from Kalyan to Karjat; 4 from Diva to Vasai; seven between Diva and Panvel, two between Panvel and Karjat; and 8 between Panvel and Roha. Of the 190 FOBs, upkeep are already under way at 26 CR FOBs, might be finished by way of May 30, the railway supply stated.


When contacted, Sunil Udasi, chief public relations officer, CR, stated IIT-B had submitted its reports on 30 FOBs. When requested about its suggestions, he stated, “We are studying the suggestions.”
