PATIALA: Tension escalated in Banur town of Patiala district after individuals of Damdami Taksal blocked Banur Landran street to prevent a congregation of Dera Sacha Sauda.
Key Dera individuals had deliberate to carry the Nam Charcha as a part of its inception-ceremony (Sathapna Diwas) however allegedly didn't take any permission from the management. Expecting a huge amassing, the Dera management had deliberate to carry the congregation at an open agricultural land.
Police from Mohali and Banur reached the spot and got the land vacated and issued prohibition orders to carry any congregation without any permission.
Tension prevailed after a lot of Sikh community individuals led via BS Parwana headed in opposition to the venue to confront the Dera followers. However, the district management and the police in an instant reached the spot to avert a clash between the 2 sides.
The individuals of the Damdami Taksal appealed the district management not to allow the congregation and later gave them a two-hour ultimatum to do so. However, at round 1pm, the Sikhs under the Taksal blocked the street near Banur barrier as no motion in opposition to was once taken in opposition to Dera.
“The Dera local management was once no longer allowed to carry the congregation or political rally as they didn't have any permission in this regard. The Dera packed up at round 3pm. Sinder Paka, member of Dera’s state political wing said, “We had already held these amassing under ‘Nam Charcha’ in almost all the districts together with Faridkot, Bathinda, Patiala, Muktsar, Ferozepur, Sangrur and Ludhiana. However, Mohali and Ropar are but to be lined. We are handiest taking the opinion of the Dera followers as to which candidate or party they should beef up within the Lok Sabha elections.”
"Everything remained peaceful. No case was registered against anyone. However, the matter was resolved amicably after a discussion was held with the Dera local management and they were told to vacate the private land," DSP Rajpura, Manpreet Singh said.
