Bhubaneswar: The call for for banners, posters, cut-outs and T-shirts has greater this election season and so has the income of makers of election paraphernalia. Major political events are giving bulk orders to producers to supply election subject matter to them and the dealers are guffawing the entire solution to the bank, said a marketplace analyst.
Ajay Kumar Ghadai, owner of the city-based Aditya Graphics, said, “We are getting bulk orders from many events. There is a top call for for flex items as they catch the attention of the people. Now I am busy with orders from BJD and the Left events.”
Like him, many manufacturers have their palms complete as the campaigning has reached a feverish pitch. “Usually, we do business of around Rs 6,000. With the twin elections within the state, our income according to day has greater four-fold,” Ghadai said with a large smile on his face.
Sasikanta Jena, owner of Nupur Art, mentioned, “I've got orders to make 10,000 T-shirts each for BJD and Congress.” Giving a rough calculation, he added, “On same old days, our income hardly ever crosses Rs 60,000 a month. Now our monthly income has touched Rs 2.five lakh. We are making things like posters, banners, T-shirts, caps and the like.”
If they obtain bulk orders for caps from any celebration, the procurement generally happens from places like Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and other south Indian cities.
“The price of a cap begins from Rs 40 whilst that of a T-shirt can range from Rs 110 to Rs 500 relying at the subject matter and the writing to be embossed on it. Flex subject matter, on an average, costs Rs 7 according to sq. toes. However, if a candidate wants flex with frames, the fee rises to Rs 25 according to sq. toes,” said Ghadai.
“There is not any dearth of call for now,” said Prajes Mohapatra of Hytone, any other manufacturer. According to him, a 10cm x 8cm pushing card costs 80 paise whilst a cut-out is price Rs 55 according to sq. toes.
“Political events are creating a beeline for us,” said Sasikanta. Some enterprising youths and celebration cadets have also opened stores near the respective celebration places of work to promote products.
According to psychiatrist S N Parida, “These promoting materials are main sights for the people. The more they see it, the more the message registers of their subconscious. Their effect on voters can’t be overlooked.”
