Rajkot: A person was arrested with four country-made pistols and 21 cartridges, all value Rs 1.32 lakh, from Gulabnagar locality of Jamnagar on Monday.
Police mentioned the accused, known as Wasim Sumara alias Chhotiyo (32), a resident of Pirvadi locality in Rajkot, was getting into his automobile to Jamnagar to deliver weapons and ammunition.
According to police, Sumara is a history-sheeter and a member of the notorious Tajia gang that is excited about a string of angadia firm robberies across Saurashtra. His title also figures within the Rs 5-crore robbery at Adalaj in Ahmedabad.
“During interrogation, Sumara mentioned he had procured the fingers and ammunition from Kanu Bheel of Radhanpur in Patan district and was going to promote them in Jamnagar. Bheel could also be a member of the Tajia gang,” mentioned R A Dodia, inspector with Jamnagar native crime department.
Dodia added that Sumara could also be sought after in a bootlegging case through which Indian-made international liquor bottles value Rs 19 lakh had been seized in Padana village of Jodia taluka in Jamnagar district.
