Illegal dwellers evicted from college premises

PATNA: The AN College management with the help of the district management forcefully evicted the entire retired and serving non-teaching group of workers residing illegally on the college premises for the last several many years.

The motion used to be taken after the Patna top court issued an order to the non-teaching group of workers of the varsity to vacate the premises and surrender the keys in their dwellings to the major till 5pm on Thursday as the varsity is for use as polling station as well as strongroom for preserving EVMs of Pataliputra and Patna Sahib parliamentary constituencies for counting of votes.


However, as not one of the staff had been ready to obey the court’s order, the varsity management sought the help of police. Principal SP Shahi stated, “All the 27 illegal unauthorized dwellings had been vacated and the varsity management has locked them after taking ownership. All of them had been the usage of illegal power connections. Luxury items like ACs had been also got rid of right through the eviction procedure. At least 15 different commercial automobiles owned by means of these dwellers had been parked everyday on the college premises every evening.”

Chandra Gupta Singh, secretary, AN College Non-Teaching Employees’ Association, has already moved the court for quashing the eviction order issued by means of the varsity major. The major had issued a notice to all retired and serving non-teaching group of workers residing illegally to vacate the premises by means of April 17 or else their dwellings can be demolished the next day to come. The eviction order used to be issued on the path of Patna DM.


The bench of Justice Anil Kumar Upadhyay which heard the writ petition filed by means of the affiliation, directed to make the major a birthday party within the case and posted the subject for listening to on June 17.


“The non-teaching group of workers had been allowed to are living on the premises by means of the then major SP Singh in 1975 as there were no group of workers quarters. However, no quarter has been constructed till date by means of the college here,” stated the major, including that no person can be allowed to stick here again.


“Six blocks of the varsity can be used as strongrooms for EVMs and for counting by means of the Election Commission of India (ECI),” stated Shahi.
