RAS officer caught taking bribe in Jodhpur, probe on

JODHPUR: A Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) officer was arrested by way of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person on Thursday. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in his place of work, which was recovered from the pocket of his shirt.

The RAS officer, Vijay Singh Nahta is posted in Jodhpur as Additional District Magistrate (ADM) No. 2 with additional price of ADM No. three. He had taken the bribe from a complainant named Pappu Das Vaishnav from Chirdhani village of Pipar town in Jodhpur for issuing orders to tehsildar to mark his land. DIG (ACB) Sawai Singh Godara said, “Pappu Das had agricultural land in his village, which around 10 to 15 feet, was illegally coated by way of his neighbour Chimnaram Jat in 2015. He filed a criticism, and then the land was marked with the help of police in February this 12 months and his neighbour was found in charge of encroaching the land,” said Godara.


Since then, Pappu Das were running to obtain the orders marking his land from tehsildar of Pipar. But because of the alleged influence of his neighbour he did not get any reaction from tehsildar. So, he approached Nahta in Jodhpur and advised him to issue orders to tehsildar to stone-mark his land. “But Nahta demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Pappu Das, who complained against the officer,” said Godara. ACB then verified the criticism and it was showed that Nahta asked for a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. During verification, Nahta known as Pappu Das to his place of work with the bribe amount on Thursday.


“Nahta received money and saved within the pocket of his shirt. ACB, ready in there, caught the officer and recovered the money from his pocket”, added Godara. After formalities, ACB arrested Nahta and an investigation is initiated into the topic.
