IMA wants new entity for day care centres

We will write to the state government and the local body to consider our demand and if required will take the help of the central body to push our demand."

Dr Ramchandra Hankare, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)'s well being leader, said, "The current process is going smooth. PMC has its own limitations and the issue has to be escalated to the state authorities only after which can we implement changes. We cannot make changes to these centres as PMCdoesn't have power for it."

Dr Nandkishore Gosavi, ENT marketing consultant and surgeon at Navjeevan Hospital in Hadapsar, said that the federal government will have to improve such day care surgical centres as the associated fee is the prime issue which attracts sufferers. Gosavi said, "The patients trust the doctors and the cost is also minimal. There is a need for a new entity or special provisions for such centres. The centres are established by doctors from different branches and several procedures are done. New norms being added to the nursing home act will make it difficult for the day care centres to function."
