Jaipur: Residents face water woes as summer comes knocking

JAIPUR: As temperatures rise, water shortage has turn into a cause of outrage for other people in the town. Residents of Barkat Nagar have complained that they are receiving drinking water for just 20 mins, and that too at a low power.

Sanjay Parashar, a shopkeeper at Barkat Nagar mentioned, that water provide time has gone down via 25 mins and now-a-days, they have got been struggling to fill their buckets. “Water is being supplied maximum for 15-20 mins, two instances an afternoon, by which we have to wait patiently because the power may be very low. Earlier, the power used to be just right and the water used to achieve until first floor, however now we have to come to the bottom floor to fill the drinking water,” mentioned Sanjay.


Amid shortage of water, there has been a rise in the call for of personal tankers in the town. As in line with the citizens, private tankers’ prices have shot up. “One tanker used to rate Rs200, which has now greater to Rs400-500. With power of water being low and shorter provide timings, we have to purchase tankers on higher rates, that flip up after two-three days, because of higher call for. Many instances, we have to purchase water in black, that prices us Rs700-800,” mentioned Hemant Sharma, a resident of Mahesh Nagar.


Residents recalled an incident when a few days back, for around 5 days, sewerage water used to be supplied to them and plenty of fell unwell after eating it. After many lawsuits to the dept, the problem used to be solved.


Due to low rainfall last 12 months, water degree in the Bisalpur Dam has gone down and the onset of summers has introduced in water woes for the citizens.


Though the PHED claims that they haven’t decreased the water provide any place, yet as in line with one source from the dept, water provide has been decreased via 20% in the town. For the first time, PHED has also decreased the availability of water to the VVIP bungalows in the town. In the VVIP bungalows, water used to be supplied for 24 hours however now it has been decreased to only 16 hours. The final water in the dam is sufficient until August.
