Ashok Patil, an employee at Finance Corporation in Hubballi and a resident of Naregal in Gadag district, said he went to Old Bus Stand to catch a bus after place of business hours. “As there was once no non-stop bus to Gadag, I boarded a packed Koppal-bound bus. I needed to stand within the bus to Gadag after which from Gadag to Naregal. It took me four hours to reach my village, whilst typically it takes only one and half hours,” he added.


Geetanjali Hangal, an employee at an insurance company in Hubballi and a local of Akki Alur said, “This occurs right through every election. The EC spends crores for voter awareness but it also inconveniences us via taking all public transport buses. Being accountable citizens, how are we able to solid our votes? Moreover it’s dangerous for women to commute in packed buses.”


Annappa Goudar, a salesman from Navalgund, said he travels day by day from Hubballi. “Whenever there is an election, many like me struggle to board a bus. Though they're a variety of buses, frequency is low polling day. Sometimes we commute via a lorry to reach our local,” he said.


Basalingappa Beedi, chief visitors manager, NWKRTC, said they had to provide buses for election work. “Passengers’ motion will also be lesser on polling day. So, it gained’t have an effect on them in large part. However, we will make sure that all schedules function however with fewer trips. We have also informed the general public in regards to the scarcity of buses throughout the media and feature sought cooperation from public,” he said.
