Male tiger relocated from Ranthambore to Sariska to maintain sex ratio

JAIPUR/ALWAR: After a protracted wait of six years and a number of other twists and turns, a male tiger used to be finally relocated from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) to Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR) on Monday.

At round 8 am on Monday , the woodland division tranquillised tiger T-75 in Thaleda Bheed area of RTR. Once the scientific examination of the tiger used to be conducted and radio collar used to be put in the tiger used to be taken to STR in a canter via street. The tiger used to be shifted and placed in a cushy enclosure for a couple of days to help it acclimatise to the brand new setting.

The seven years old tiger is the son of tigress Sundari or T-17, which disappeared in 2013. Arindam Tomar, chief wildlife warden, stated, "After receiving permission from the Centre and National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), male tiger, T-75 was relocated from Ranthambore to Sariska. At present, tiger ST-13 is the only dominant male in Sariska. While tiger ST-6 at Sariska has grown old, young tiger ST-15 cannot cater to the needs of the tigresses."

It used to be informed, lately, the Sariska has 3 male and eight female tigers. There used to be an urgent need to relocate a male tiger to handle the intercourse ratio in STR.
