“We got information about the marriage round 5 pm from our Childline volunteers and with assist of police rushed to the spot and intervened. We asked the villagers to stop the marriage as it is unlawful,” mentioned Das.

The officer mentioned the workforce of officials and police had a tricky time convincing the parents to cast off the marriage. “For hours, we tried to make the villagers aware of the demerits and legal aspects of kid marriage. While the boy has seemed for the Class X board examination this year, the lady is a Class VII drop out.
