NIA arrests fifth accused in 2017 CRPF camp attack

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency on Sunday arrested one Irshad Ahmad Reshi in reference to the 2017 terrorist assault on CRPF Group Centre in Jammu and Kashmir's Lethpora.

Reshi is the fifth accused to be arrested within the case. He was arrested after disclosures via accused Nisar Ahmed Tantray and Syed Hilal Andrabi. Both of them have been arrested earlier in reference to the same case.


Reshi is an energetic OGW (Over Ground Worker) of proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). He was a close affiliate of slain terrorist and JeM Commander Noor Mohammad Tantray alias Noor Trali.

The assault on CRPF Group Centre, Lethpora was done under a conspiracy to avenge the death of Noor Trali, who was killed in an come upon with safety forces in Dec 2017.


Reshi was found to be a key conspirator who supplied logistic toughen in form of sheltering and shipping for the terrorists and engaging in reconnaissance of the CRPF Group centre, Lethpora prior to the terrorist assault.


Four accused particularly Fayaz Ahmad Magrey, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, Nisar Ahmed Tantray and Syed Hilal Andrabi have been arrested earlier within the case.


The assault at Lethpora was carried out via JeM terrorists known as Fardeen Ahmad Khandey, Manzoor Baba and Pakistan-based terrorist Abdul Shakoor. All the three terrorists have been killed within the come upon. Five CRPF workforce have been martyred and 3 others have been injured.


Irshad Ahmed Reshi will be produced prior to the Special NIA courtroom, Jammu on Monday with a request for grant of police custody for additional investigation.
