UDUPI: Udupi district particular courtroom on Saturday rejected the bail plea of journalist Chandra Ok Hemmadi ,40, who was once accused of sexually assaulting a boy scholar. He has been charged in 21 cases underneath the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
The accused had filed a petition in courtroom on March 27 looking for bail in the first case filed towards him in Byndoor police station. However Vijay Vasu Poojary, district particular prosecutor satisfied the courtroom that once advent of Pocso Act, it is first time that 21 cases had been lodged towards one accused in the entire country and due to this fact, his bail pea must be rejected. District particular judge Chandrashekhar M Joshi, who heard the arguments over the controversy, rejected the bail petition of the accused.
Chandra Hemmadi was once arrested on November 28, 2018, in response to the case filed at Byndoor police station for allegedly sexually harassing school students. A total 16 cases had been registered towards him at Byndoor, three at Gangolli and one each at Kundapur Rural and Kollur police stations.
