PATIALA: The police in Patiala have arrested a man and claimed to have busted a gang of thieves who allegedly thieve two-wheelers and automobiles within the town. The police have seized greater than 4 dozen automobiles that were stolen within the ultimate two years.
The accused has been identified as Praveen Kumar alias Dhini of Malerkotla town of Sangrur.
The police claimed to have recovered 52 stolen automobiles, together with 49 two-wheelers and 3 automobiles.
The police revealed that the accused used to focus on mostly the automobiles of students parked out of doors educational institutions. Most of the automobiles were stolen from out of doors an academic institution in Choti Baradari in Patiala town.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mandeep Singh Sidhu, stated, "We have recovered the vehicles that were stolen not only from Patiala city, but also from other divisions of the district. Apparently, the accused used to sell these stolen vehicles in the districts surrounding Patiala, after forging documents. The accused admitted during interrogation that they have been stealing the two-wheelers in Patiala for the last two years. The vehicles parked at isolated spots were also their easy targets."
The police revealed that the accused was once arrested on a grievance of a local resident at Kotwali police station. The complainant had lodged an FIR after his two-wheeler was once stolen from Chotti Baradari area.
After improving the automobiles, the police have added sections 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in opposition to the accused and are further probing the case. The police added that the involvement of extra is suspected, as it was once no longer a task of a single person.
