Vistara hires 100 pilots, 450 cabin crew from Jet Airways

NEW DELHI: Almost 100 pilots and 450 cabin group members of Jet Airways had been employed via Vistara. This Tata Group-Singapore Airlines JV is making plans to induct some of Jet’s plane. The other Tata JV airline, AirAsia India, may be making plans to take Jet’s Boeing 737s in its fleet.

Air India, SpiceJet and GoAir are among the Indian carriers that have taken Jet’s pilots and cabin group on board. AI and AI Express have been taking a look at inducting Jet’s B777s and B737s, respectively, but thus far they have now not completed so.


Meanwhile, the location at Jet is deteriorating via the day. On Tuesday, the airline told staff that their group mediclaim coverage will lapse from Wednesday. “In the absence of any emergency funding from the lenders or any other supply of finances approaching within the near long term… we don't seem to be in a position to fund the premium of our group mediclaim coverage… I sincerely remorseful about to inform you that effective May 1, 2019, the gang mediclaim coverage quilt for the Jet Airways family will cease. AirAsia India Pvt Ltd’s (AAIPL) flying licence has listed Airbus fleet for its operations. Now the low cost service (LCC) has applied to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for operating Boeing plane, the ex-Jet B737s, additionally. AAIPL currently has 20 Airbus A320s and is most likely to add five more of these planes this summer. In addition to these, it is taking a look at ex-Jet B737s too.
