NEW DELHI: The Committee of Administrators on Tuesday stated that the much-awaited elections of the BCCI can be hung on October 22.
The CoA, which was once appointed by way of the Supreme Court in January 2017 to supervise the sweeping reforms advisable by way of the Lodha panel, introduced the elections date after due consultation with the apex court-appointed amicus curiae PS Narsimha.
The Supreme Court had assigned Narsimha in March to mediate with more than a few state associations which had 80 filed period in-between appeals.
In the assembly attended by way of all 3 CoA individuals -- leader Vinod Rai, Diana Edulji and Ravi Thodge -- the closing date to carry state elections was once set at September 14. Rai stated 30 state associations have been rendered compliant and the remaining are within the process of amending their charter as per the Lodha reforms.
Asked about elections after all going down within the BCCI, which has suffered from administrative crisis for more than two years, Rai stated he was once a happy man.
"When I was appointed by the Honourable Supreme Court, I had said that my role will be of a night watchman and this night watchman has stayed for very long," Rai advised PTI in a lighter vein.
"We (CoA) are glad because our task was once very particular. It was once mandated to cause them to (the state associations) settle for the charter (as per Lodha suggestions). They (associations) had difficulties which was once mediated between us, amicus and the courtroom. We are glad at hand it over them.
"We sincerely believed a democratically run elected frame should run cricket within the nation," added the previous CAG.
Rai lauded amicus Narsimha's function in dealing with the state associations.
"We gave a large number of standing reviews (10 in all) to Supreme Court. Supreme Court heard the entire associations, then amicus was once appointed by way of the Supreme Court to carry mediations.
"Amicus spent about 150 hours talking to all the state associations on clarifications which were sought. Ultimately, the state associations have come forward and accepted all the recommendations, about 30 odd have been rendered compliant."
The energy of the apex council could be greater for the state gadgets but within the BCCI, it's going to be restricted to 9 individuals as proposed.
"Of the principle charter only one concession has been advisable by way of the amicus in his report to SC and that was once regarding the apex council.
"The apex council in state associations was once meant to replicate BCCI's (9 individuals). They had practical difficulties because cricket is run within the state itself. They have gamers and flooring committee and different committees. They indicated their problem to amicus.
"We jointly felt that we needed to increase this number and make it more flexible. Roughly it should be limited to 19 and in that three nominated members will also be there, 16 would be elected," he added.
The Supreme Court had, in January 17, sacked BCCI president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke, and asked different office-bearers who don't meet the qualifications set by way of the courtroom to be on the board to demit office or stand disqualified.
