Admin reviews ghats for October 26 Chhath festivities

GURGAON: The city administration is finalising the arrangements for the primary event of Chhath puja on Thursday. Various ghats of the district are being reviewed via different committees, NGOs and administration to make sure a smooth run for the event on 26 October.

Satyendra Singh, chairman of Purvanchal Ekta Manch, said, "People can worship at the 35 ghats in Gurgaon. Temporary ghats have been put up at places including Sheetla Mata Mandir, Sector-4 Fountain Park, Devi Lal Nagar, Sector-46, Chakrapar and Sushant Lok ."


The Chhath Puja Mahotsav, organised via Pataliputra Cultural Consciousness Committee, might be celebrated within the Brahma Sarovar, located in Sheetla Mata Mandir.


Director of Haryana Arts Council, Ajay Singhal said, "A large number of devotees perform the Chhath puja at the Sheetla Mata Mandir. Around 50 security vendors will be deployed in view of the crowd." Gurgaon police could also be gearing up for the puja safety. Sandeep Khirwar, the police commissioner said, "In all the three zones (East, West and South), the police station in charge have been ordered to work with caution in view of security in their respective areas. Additional forces will be installed where needed."


This time, the well-known dishes of Purvanchal like 'litti-chokha' might be to be had at Chhath Puja stalls. There might be stalls for Madhubani artwork and Bhagalpuri silk. For the convenience of devotees, free well being camps may also be to be had at most ghats.
