NEW DELHI: Heavy and relentless rains badly affected flight operations at the Chennai airport on Sunday.
According to studies, no less than two city-bound flights were diverted to Hyderabad whilst 10 flights were behind schedule. It was raining until around 5am.
Tamil Nadu has recorded its best possible rainfall all over southwest monsoon (SWM) (June - September) since 1996.
Thirty-two districts within the state recorded 30% extra rain this season, whilst Chennai recorded 15% extra.
Last year, the state had recorded 20% deficient rain all over the same period. The all-time report for the best possible rain all over SWM was in 1996 when the state recorded 74% extra.
Weathermen have forecast gentle showers all over the primary three days of October.
