‘Birsa Munda dedicated life to end all forms of discrimination’

Nagpur: Self Respect Movement of Indigenous People, in association with All India Indigenous Students Federation, Birsa Munda Brigade and Adiwasi Bachao Andolan arranged a rally cum meet 'Adiwasi Mulnivasi Adhikar va Shiksha Parishad' to mark the 142nd start anniversary of Birsa Munda at Kasturchand Park on Wednesday.

More than 1,000 folks from other states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Maharashtra attended the meet which thinking about uplifting the rights of tribal folks across the nation and give protection to their rights.

Manoj Gorkhela, Supreme Court recommend, together with Raghuveer Alao, chief woodland officer, Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, and Hira Singh Jadhav, senior engineer had been the manager guest for the development.

Satish Pendam, organizer, stated, "Birsa Munda gave his life to ensure tribals get equal rights. He is the epitome of sacrifice, courage and unconditional love. He strived to end all forms of discrimination. We aim to carry forward his legacy of improving the conditions of the indigenous tribes."


Speaking at the present conditions of tribals, Pendam stated, "They need proper attention from the government. Our demands includes reservation in jobs and education. Government must work for the development of students, labourers and other people from our community. Government must also safeguard the land, water and forests of tribal people and special land must be allotted to the community for social gatherings. The state as well as central government must promote socialization and social unification to create a sustainable future."


One of the visitors Yojana Waje, a high courtroom recommend, stated, "Munda inspired all of us, men and women alike, to fight for justice and protect our rights. Women have played a significant role in the movement of tribal community and through the meet we aim to bring people together and weave a better future."


Many who attended the meeting donated blood at the occasion.
