BJP opposes proposal to set up slaughterhouse in Belagavi city limits

Belagavi: Activists of BJP early life wing, led by means of Rajkumar Topannavar, staged a protest right here on Tuesday, opposing the proposal to arrange a slaughterhouse at Ramtirth Nagar.

Animal husbandry minister A Manju lately introduced the outlet of the slaughterhouse in Ramtirth Nagar after the early proposal to arrange the abattoir in Hirebagewadi, 20km from town, met with stiff opposition from the residents.

Topannavar, who's basic secretary of the BJP town block, stated that the government's determination is towards the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act in line with which slaughterhouses should be positioned 5km away from town. He alleged that the officers took the verdict, bowing to the pressure from local MLA Firoz Sait.


Topannavar stated that his birthday party opposes the slaughterhouse in Ramtirth Nagar as the area has a predominantly Hindu population and homes many temples.


He demanded motion towards illegal slaughterhouses in the town.


Vinayak Patil, Mahadev Dharennavar, Irayya Khot, Shivanad Khari and Kedar Javalapure had been present.
