Concrete floor at new bus stand to make it free of dust

Hubballi: In order to rid the new bus stand at Gokul Road of dust, the North West Road Transport Corporation has initiated the work on concrete floor. A complete house of 1100square at the premises shall be made concrete floor in six months at an estimated value of Rs 50 lakh.

Sadanand Dhanganavar, chairman, NWKRTC, and mayor D K Chavan took section within the ground-breaking ceremony on Friday.

Dhanganavar mentioned that folks have been finding it tough to enter the premises. Commuters have been additionally facing issues arising out of serious dust because of unhealthy roads at the premises, he mentioned.

"Soon, the bus stand will become dust-free. Till the work gets over, the city bus stand will outside temporarily. The contractor has assured of finishing the work within one month," he added.


Vivekanand Vishwadnya, divisional controller, Hubballi division, NWKRTC, mentioned "We were receiving many complaints pertaining to the pathetic condition of road and dust. Now, the problem will be solved permanently with concrete flooring."


Shankar Kamble, a resident of Akshay Colony, who travels to Belagavi each day, welcomed the verdict. "From many days, we were facing problems to enter bus stand in our cars because of the bad roads. This measure should have been taken long back. But at least for now the authorities have taken the decision," he added.


After its opening in 1999, the new bus stand was utterly ignored as passengers have been reluctant to make use of it because of inconvenience. Later, the new bus stand was rarely utilized by commuters for long-distance adventure. Except other people living at Gokul Road and Tarihal, no person was the usage of the new bus stand. The place then become filled with potholes and dirt.
