'Gurdwaras, temples testament to tolerant Afghanistan'

NEW DELHI: Four Gurudwaras and two temples in Kabul are a testomony to struggle ravaged Afghanistan's tolerant and numerous society, Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma stated on Wednesday.


Speaking on the inauguration of a three day Indo-Afghan cultural pageant, Sharma stated that the 2 nations enjoyed age old cultural and civilisational ties and deep- rooted linkages within the fields of music, art, structure, language and cuisine which bind the folks of those international locations in combination.


"While exponents of Afghan classical music such as Ustad Sarahang were trained in the Patiala Gharana, the popular Indian music of Bollywood resonates in Afghan homes," he stated.


"The Gurudwaras and the two temples in Kabul itself are testament to tolerant and diverse society of Afghanistan", stated Sharma.


The Indo-Afghan Festival includes cultural performances, handicrafts, exhibitions, cuisine and cultural displays from Afghanistan as well as India.
