Missing bride accused of theft was a minor, fled with grandmother's help

NOIDA: In a welcome transfer within the battle against child marriage, two minors in Uttar Pradesh had been helped by means of their grandparents to escape from the impending life-long ordeal.

The first incident used to be reported from Dadri, where a wedding ceremony used to be scheduled for November 27. A day before the ceremony, the 15-year-old bride went lacking together with different family members. The groom's circle of relatives alleged that the bride's circle of relatives had fled with Rs 8 lakh money and jewellery price 2 lakh rupees which used to be given to them.

The groom's circle of relatives filed a police complaint in Greater Noida. However, when the accused woman reached the police station along with her grandmother, the real tale unfolded. The grandmother informed the police that she had helped the lady flee as she did not like the idea of her marriage with a person two times her age.

The grandmother alleged that the lady's uncle (chacha) had bought her to the 'groom', who's 35 years old. She additional said that the circle of relatives used to be no longer aware of the deal.


The circle of relatives alleged that the lady's uncle is an alcoholic and on November 21 he fixed the wedding in Ladupura village with out informing somebody. The woman lives along with her grandparents as her mother died in 2004 and her father married some other woman in Haryana and started residing there.


In the second case, a 15-year-old minor used to be saved from marrying an already-married guy, whose wife had died. The guy had 3 children from his first marriage, the eldest amongst them being a 16-year-old woman.


In this case, the lady used to be saved by means of her grandfather. It all happened in Jarcha area of Greater Noida. On figuring out the entire tale, the lady's grandfather informed the police and stopped the ceremony. After the grandfather's protest, the 'groom' used to be detained by means of the police while his family members fled the venue. The baraat had come from Jhajjar in Haryana.
