BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Monday presented 'Fish Pond Yojana', a state sponsored scheme, for introduction of additional water bodies for freshwater aquaculture in 2,200 hectares of land. The government has also made up our minds to offer subsidy to farmers for this goal.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik declared this whilst attending a workshop organised by way of the fisheries and animal assets construction (FARD) department here. He mentioned the Yojana will make sure that source of revenue era and employment introduction thru promotion of aquaculture.
"We have introduced a new state plan scheme 'Fish Pond Yojana' with a budgetary provision of Rs 96 crore which will facilitate creation of additional 2,200 hectares of freshwater aquaculture farming with 50 per cent financial assistance to farmers," mentioned Naveen.
According to the plan, a farmer with considered necessary land can get bank loan of Rs 8.5 lakh in line with hectare for excavation of new tank. So the government can provide maximum 50 in line with cent of the full value (Rs four.25 lakh in line with hectare) as subsidy cash. If any one spends greater than Rs 8.5 lakh in line with hectare, the government will not give greater than the utmost cap of subsidy.
A senior officer from FARD mentioned a maximum of two hectares for each farmer might be supported to undertake extensive aquaculture. Even farmers can create ponds for manufacturing of fingerlings. But those farmers can get subsidy for one hectare handiest, he added.
Field level fisheries officials will play an important position in figuring out beneficiaries and select websites at block level.
The state produces around 6 lakh MT fish (both marine and freshwater) once a year. Out of the full manufacturing, share of fresh water manufacturing is three.93 lakh MT. But the state consumes more freshwater fish than seafood. So it imports 40,000 matric tonne of fresh water fish from neighbouring state every year.
Naveen mentioned the annual fish manufacturing in the state has increased from 2.6 lakh tonnes to greater than six lakh tonnes in the ultimate 17 years. "Similarly, per day milk production has seen a quantum jump from 24 lakh litres in 2000 to 54 lakh litres now. The egg production has also seen a production growth of more than 2.5 times," he added.
He also gave appointment letters to 232 technical individuals including 56 veterinary assistant surgeons, 158 farm animals inspectors and 18 junior fishery technical assistants.
