ALLAHABAD: Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Raj Babbar claimed on Friday that "PM Narendra Modi made an attempt to build his image like late prime minister Indira Gandhi by demonetization of currency of higher values but failed miserably".
Babbar was once talking at a rite to mark the start centenary celebrations of Indira Gandhi here. "The PM wanted to have an image like late prime ministers Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shatri, so he implemented demonetization without even thinking about the repercussions. The result was that noteban scheme and now cashless scheme have proved to be big flops and people across the country suffered in the process," mentioned Babbar.
He added, "Indira's image is like Goddess Durga and 'Jhanshi ki Rani' which had been accepted even by her opponents. Modi will not be able to match her."
