Police to issue 'quit India' notice to Thai women rescued from prostitution racketeers

BHUBANESWAR: The commissionerate police on Tuesday stated they might factor 'quit India' realize to a few Thai women, rescued while busting an alleged prostitution racket running from a spa right here. The police stated they're going to ask the foreigners to go away the rustic at their own risk after their circle of relatives, nor the Thai embassy got here ahead to assert them.


Ever since their rescue, the foreigners had been accommodated in a short-stay home at the outskirts of town. "We communicated with the Thai embassy on November 18, a day after the women were rescued and four members of the racket were arrested. We will issue leave India notice to them and recommend the ministry of external affairs to cancel their passport," DCP Satyabrata Bhoi instructed TOI. Police stated the passports of the foreigners wish to be blacklisted as they were engaged as masseuses within the spa, despite wearing vacationer visa. Police stated the foreigners will have to have possessed employment visa.


Police added that the one correspondence from the embassy they had won was once a confirmation of the ladies's nationality. "We wanted to know if they had been involved in any offence in India or Thailand. We had categorically sought a reply on who would take their custody," Bhoi stated.


Despite repeated makes an attempt, authorities of the short-stay home did not permit TOI to talk to the ladies. Police are likely to be lenient with them however added that their employment on a vacationer visa was once a violation of the Foreigners Act. "We have informed the embassy, as well as the special branch of Odisha police, of this matter. Since the women are in distress, we may let them off," some other police officer stated. Police resources stated each and every Thai lady was once paid between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 per 30 days.
