Waste plant at Basai got green nod

GURGRAM: The state pollution board had given its nod for putting in place of a building and demolition (C&D) waste remedy plant in Basai, ahead of the plan bumped into an NGT hurdle earlier this 12 months.

The HSPCB had given the consent to establish (CTE) to a private firm, hired by way of MCG, for development the plant in May. According to the CTE (a replica of which is with TOI), the power falls in the 'Red' category (extremely polluting) and its emission parameters will likely be 100 mg/m3 and effluent parameters will likely be 30mg/litre of biochemical oxygen demand.

But, the construction of the plant was once stopped after petitioners moved NGT, alleging it would damage Basai wetland, crucial habitat for thousands of hen species.

In the ultimate hearing on November three, MCG was once challenged by way of the petitioners to supply the CTE permit, which is a must below Environment (Protection) Act. "We have the HSPCB permit to establish the plant and will submit it in court in the next hearing," said Sudhir Chauhan, senior the city planner, MCG. The subsequent hearing is on November 22.
