BJP workers protest lack of civic amenities

BHUBANESWAR: BJP employees on Friday barged into the office of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) right here whilst protesting in opposition to the alleged irregularities and inefficiency of the urban frame. They also clashed with police when the latter attempted to prevent them.
The employees led via Harekrushna Khuntia, party's Bhubaneswar district president, staged an illustration in entrance of the BMC office protesting the corporation's lackadaisical perspective in handing over elementary services.

Some protestors, who had managed to enter the office premises, had been detained via police. Some BJP employees even hurled eggs into the office campus.

Party's state vice-president Samir Mohanty, who was once provide, mentioned they sought after to query the town mayor about corruption in BMC, visitors and parking problems, drainage downside and lack of public toilets. "Police did not allow us to enter the office. We want satisfactory answers for our questions fielded to the mayor," he added.


Khuntia alleged that BMC has failed to unravel visitors problems. Though the town is the primary Smart City of the country, building works have not began but. "BMC never tries to renovate 11 natural streams in the city and on its outskirts. It is very unfortunate that the mayor does not take any step to control the pollution in Daya river, a drinking water source for the city," he added.


City mayor A N Jena mentioned the capital city was once decided on as first good city of the country on account of the laborious paintings of the state govt and concrete frame.


"We have started our Smart City works. It will take time. Rome was not built in a day. Everybody should cooperate with us to bring a positive change," he mentioned, including, "We all know that people will not buy the BJP story against BMC".
