GUWAHATI: A city-based artist, who has built the tallest idol all the way through this 12 months's Durga puja, has been unsuccessful in his attempts to be featured in the Guinness Book of World Records because of the lackadaisical angle of the Public Works Department (PWD).
The artist, Nuruddin Ahmed, is a scholar of JJ College of Arts in Mumbai and has labored as an artwork director in more than 100 motion pictures in Assam.
He has also been associated with common mobile theatres around the state.
In September this 12 months, he had used 5000 bamboo poles to form the 101-feet idol which, through now, will have to have taken his name into the record books. A devastating typhoon had demolished the idol but he completed it on his 2nd attempt, taking simplest seven days for the entire procedure. But greater than two months later, Ahmed is caught in his efforts to have the Guinness record in opposition to his name because of the failure of the PWD officials to factor a certificate spotting his success.
"I feel frustrated visiting the federal government workplace over and over again. It had taken me simply seven days to design the idol.
But they can't factor a certificate even in 75 days. This is terribly unfortunate. This is not just my success — the record would have brought fame to the state and its other folks as neatly," a dejected Ahmed informed TOIon Sunday.
"I'm thankful to everyone who have supported and motivated me. The idol has been featured in numerous news pieces across the globe. But I'm hugely disappointed at the behaviour of the government officials," he added.
PWD officials may no longer be reached for a remark at the factor. Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner M Angamuthu, however, vowed to assist the artist. "His issue will be addressed properly," he stated.
