KANPUR: At least 24 other people have been injured on Thursday morning when low visibility because of dense fog led to the collision of a number of vehicles on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway close to Kannauj district, 75km from Kanpur, police said. This is the third accidents in the expressway in this month.
"A car collided with a truck parked near Inayatpur village, following which 12 more vehicles, including 11 cars and a bus, piled up resulting in more than two dozen people getting injured. All the injured were sent to Tirwa Medical College for treatment," SP Kannauj Harish Chander told TOI. "The accident took place around 9am when visibility was five-six metres," the SP added.
Authorities needed to barricade the expressway to take away the vehicles with the assistance of cranes, resulting in a jam.
Not the first pile-up on this e-way
On January 9, one person used to be killed and 6 others have been injured at the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Kannauj after a private tourist bus on technique to Agra from Bahraich rammed right into a truck and grew to become turtle because of fog.
Similarly, on January 7 morning, two other people have been killed on the expressway while two others have been injured after their automotive rammed right into a truck close to Raghurampur village of Unnao district.
