KANPUR: A 17-year-old lady set herself on fire on Sunday night after allegedly being gang-raped through two brothers in Hamirpur district, about 45km from right here. She suffered over 90% burn injuries and died at the spot. The lady used to be to get married on April 29.
The police have arrested one accused while the opposite is at the run.
According to the FIR registered through the lady's father, the lady used to be on my own in the house in Majhgawan space of Hamirpur district when the 2 brothers, Sunil Rajput (22) and Sonu Rajput (19) barged into the house and raped her. The lady later locked herself in a room, sprinkled kerosene on her body and set herself afire.
The lady's father, an worker of a personal corporate, used to be at work while her mother and more youthful sibling had gone to maternal grandparents' area to rejoice Makar Sankranti when the crime happened. The parents reported the case to the police on Monday morning and an FIR used to be due to this fact registered. The circle of relatives belongs to a backward community.
