Blast destroys shop, home in English city: 4 dead

LEICESTER (ENGLAND): At least four other folks have been killed and four more injured when a blast destroyed a comfort store and a home within the central English town of Leicester on Sunday, British police mentioned.

"There are four confirmed fatalities at this stage and a number of people still undergoing treatment in hospital," Leicestershire Police Superintendent Shane O'Neill mentioned.


"We believe there may be people who have not yet been accounted for and rescue efforts continue in order to locate any further casualties," O'Neill mentioned.


The blast ripped in the course of the development on Sunday night, destroying a store on the floor flooring and a two-storey condo above it. There was no instant indication that the explosion was linked to terrorism, police mentioned.


Pictures and videos confirmed flames jumping into the sky from the website which was lowered to rubble.
