Dogs steal the show at Haveri Utsav

Haveri: A dog exhibition-cum-competition organized for the first time by way of the district management to mark the three-day Samskruti Sambhrama, Janapada and Zilla Utsav here on Saturday, won excellent response from animal fans.
The division of veterinary services, Karnataka Veterinary Association, Hindustan Pet Charitable Trust and KMF collectively organized the exhibition. Over 60 dogs of 20 breeds like Great Dane, Labrador, Mudhol Hounds, Pug, German Shepherd and Husky have been dropped at the expo.

“The dog competition encourages people to undertake animals like dogs. Our Labrador performed well on this competition,” said Anup Tanduru from Haveri.


Praveen Patil from Savanur who exhibited his German Shepherd said the show will lend a hand people and children learn about dogs. “This show may even create knowledge about how to offer protection to pets and their food conduct. The district management and other organizations must arrange such occasions incessantly in our district,” he opined.


Tank desilted


Officers and elected representatives together with deputy commissioner M V Venkatesh, ZP CEO Shilpa Nag, ADC Shantha Hulmani, ZP deputy secretary G Govindswamy, ZP president Kotreshappa Baseganni and others got rid of silt from the Najik Lakamapur tank on Saturday as part of the Utsav.
