KOLKATA: Passengers travelling on an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Imphal by way of Agartala had a big scare when the aircraft were given stuck in crosswinds all over the landing series on Saturday afternoon. As the plane approached the runway sideways and wobbly with the nostril became downwards instead of up, passengers suffered bouts of panic and one took significantly ill requiring clinical assistance.




The pilots in spite of everything managed to drag the aircraft out of the deadly winds, abort landing and retreat to the safety of reasonably calm skies. The flight returned to Agartala after hovering over the Manipur capital, after which went back to Kolkata in the night. Another IndiGo flight from Kolkata could not land at Imphal and used to be diverted to Guwahati.

Recounting the horror on a shiny and sunny afternoon, one of the 175 passengers said the plane began to get tossed about in a while after the pilot announced that the flight would land soon. But when the stiff 28km/h crosswind refused to impede, the captain made up our minds to go back to Agartala.
