North-eastern states' poll results won't affect state elections: Siddaramaiah

HUBBALLI: Chief minister Siddaramaiah stated the results of elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland won't have any affect on the Karnataka assembly elections.
He told journalists here on Saturday the election results of one state won't have an affect on some other state. "The Congress had no illusions about winning in Tripura and Nagaland as we were not there. Hence, the results are not shocking, We were the single-largest party in Meghalaya," he stated.

Asked if the rise of the BJP in north-eastern states is a defeat for secular events, Siddaramaiah stated there are small and regional events in those states. "Those parties cannot be called secular parties. Hence, their defeat is not the defeat of secular parties. In Karnataka, JD(S) is calling itself secular. Is JD(S) a secular party? It was secular when we were in it. It's not secular anymore," he stated.

Reacting to BJP leaders' declare that Karnataka can also be Congress-free, Siddaramaiah stated they've been announcing it for many years. "The time will come when the BJP will vanish," he stated.

He stated the birthday celebration favours conducting assembly elections with poll papers. "Many countries tried conducting elections with EVMs but switched back to ballot papers," he stated.

Separate Lingayat faith

Siddaramaiah stated a committee arrange through the minority commission to appear into the demand for a separate Lingayat faith has submitted its report back to the commission. "The report is yet to reach me. We'll take a call once the report is submitted to the state government," he stated.


Rahul Gandhi's talk over with

The CM stated. "AICC president Rahul Gandhi will tour coastal districts on March 20 and 21 and other districts of Mysuru division on March 24 and 25," he stated.


Release of pension amount

Siddaramaiah stated Rs 130 crore, because of be launched to the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation towards payment of pension can be launched immediately.
