BHUBANESWAR: Three top businesses of the state government - the Central Electricity Supply and Utility (Cesu), the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) and the works department - are major defaulters of protecting tax, officers mentioned.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is creating a last-minute effort to mop some protecting tax as the top of the financial yr looms, disclosed that the dues of the three businesses in combination amounted to around Rs 12 crore.
The Cesu and Idco have dues of around Rs 7 crore while the works department is but to pay Rs five crore.
