Collective storage in major south Indian reservoirs is 23% of their total capacity

CHENNAI: The collective garage in primary reservoirs across the southern states is 23% in their general capacity. A complete of 31 reservoirs in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are below the monitoring of the Central Water Commission (CWC) having a complete live garage capacity of 51.59 BCM (billion cubic metre).

According to an authentic statement, the overall live garage to be had in those reservoirs is 11.85 BCM -- which is 23% of general live garage capacity of those reservoirs -- as on March 15.


"The storage during the corresponding period of last year was 17% and average storage during the corresponding period of last ten years was 30% of the live storage capacity of these reservoirs," the statement stated. Thus, the collective garage in those reservoirs is better than that within the corresponding length of remaining year however is not up to the typical garage throughout the corresponding length of remaining ten years.
