Greens meet forest dept on plant permit

GURUGRAM: A gaggle of environmentalists has met the director general of forests to demand motion towards the state executive after TOI highlighted that it has now not obtained permission for the Bandhwari waste treatment plant from the ministry of setting and forest.

Vaishali Rana Chandra, Vivek Kamboj, Shivani Sharma and others met Siddhanta Das, DG, forests, after a forest division reply to an RTI question showed that no element of the land acquired by means of the MCG for the plant used to be available with it. The land in Bandhwari falls below Aravalis Notification, 1992, and as per norms, MCG needs environmental clearances from the union ministry to use it for non-forest activities.

An legitimate of the ministry mentioned, “We have confident environmentalists that a assembly of officers within the state executive might be referred to as to talk about the problem. The roles of the Union ministry and the state executive are well outlined. While the state has to paintings on waste control as per its plan, a permission is needed if forest land is being diverted for non-forest activities.”
