Markets stabilise after choppy opening, Sensex up 100 points

NEW DELHI: On Friday, the equity markets witnessed a risky spell in preliminary trading, followed through which, the benchmark indices appear to have settled within the green.

30-share BSE Sensex opened with a leap of 114.48 issues at 33,465.05 but quickly plunged into the purple. At 9.50 am then again, the index was up 103 issues. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty followed a similar development of trading and was up quarter a per cent.


Yesterday, the markets had snapped a six-day dropping streak with the BSE index closing with a leap of greater than 300 issues, the biggest single-day gain since February 23. The Street has been underneath drive due to vulnerable world cues within the wake of industry warfare fears and the murky state of affairs within the banking sector closer home.


In Friday's early trading, the PSU bank sub-index was once once more down virtually a per cent but all other sectoral sub-indices were trading within the green with Nifty Pharma main the rally.
