Abandoned slippers lead cops to killers who burnt man’s body

BENGALURU: On the morning of April 7, Marathahalli police had a great whodunit on their arms. Following an alert from most people, they'd recovered the charred stays of a person near Kempapura Main Road. The frame was burnt beyond popularity and it seemed a case of murder. But the police neither knew who the victim was or who had killed him.
Their only clues — found near the frame — had been a pair of partly burnt slippers and an empty bottle that had contained petrol. On Tuesday, police cracked the case and had the killers in the back of bars. It was a odd case the place the cops first nabbed the suspects and only later learnt the identification of the victim.

It all began with the empty bottle. With petrol being the obvious fuel for the fireplace, police reviewed CCTV footage from petrol bunks in their division.

“We had no clue as to the identification of the victim,” an investigating officer stated. “We shaped six special teams that scanned footage from over 200 CCTV cameras from either petrol bunks or structures close to the bunks. One shot showed a person purchasing petrol from a bunk near JB Nagar on the evening of April 6. Carefully analysis of the footage showed the person had two accomplices with him. They had arrived in a hired automobile. One of them was dressed in a pair of slippers that was similar to the one recovered near the frame.”

Police famous the registration collection of the automobile which led to them to the apartment corporate’s workplaces in Indiranagar. “The 3 suspects had hired the automobile from the Indiranagar administrative center and the workforce gave us the address they'd furnished,” police stated.

The address was a paying guest facility in Kadubeesanahalli near Marathahalli. “It was a males’s PG run through two males, N Mahesh Reddy and S Rami Reddy,” stated Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner of police, Whitefield. “During interrogation, the two confessed to killing Murali, their cook.”

Police stated Murali, elderly around 30, had hailed from Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. Murali steadily quarrelled with the two Reddys over such things as salary, leave and his operating hours. On April 6, Mahesh and Rami Reddy along with one N Vineeth, an worker of a private corporate who remains in the same PG, smothered Murali to dying.

“Later that evening, they dumped the frame in the automobile they hired and drove to Kempapura,” police stated. “On the way in which, they purchased the petrol at the JB Nagar bunk.”

Mahesh 22, Vinith 22 and Rami, the accused trio, had been remanded in judicial custody. Vineeth is a house-keeping manager with a tool corporate in Mahadevapura, police stated.
