BHUBANESWAR: Heavy rain accompanied by way of hailstones lashed several parts of Odisha on Saturday afternoon inflicting large-scale damage to belongings and injuring many. Major damage is led to in Remuna block of Balasore district the place massive size hails of the dimensions of cricket balls battered the world.
“The temperature immediately fell down enormously and the freezing stage came all the way down to a low stage as the ice balls can not soften and dropped as such large size hails,” said director of IMD’s Bhubaneswar centre, Sarat Chandra sahu.


Several asbestos houses have been broken in Remuna and Badsahi block in North Odisha. Besides, the Rabi crop in numerous areas of the district also got broken in the hailstorm.


“We have by no means observed such massive hails. They are larger than the dimensions of cricket balls and have been very onerous. Many asbestos roofs have been badly broken, while other folks and animals have been injured,” said Pabitra Sahu, a resident of Remuna.


The met has issued thunder squall accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind pace achieving 50-60 kmph more likely to occur at one or two puts over south Odisha and Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jharsuguda, Balasore , Sambalpur and Deogarh on Sunday. “Norwester rains will continue in numerous parts of the state until April three and four,” Sahu added.

The perfect temperature of 41.four level Celsius recorded at Sonepur adopted by way of 41 level Celsius at Jharsuguda and Bolangir.
