LUDHIANA: A neighborhood court sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment after discovering him guilty of a minor's rape. A high-quality of Rs 75,000 was also imposed at the convict. In case of default in high-quality payment, the 23-year-old should spend another one and a half years in jail.
As in keeping with the prosecution, the lady's father had told the police on March 15, 2015, that his daughter went lacking from house on March 10, 2015, and that he suspected an acquaintance, Rajesh Mandal. On his grievance, the police raided a space in Sudhar and recovered the 14-year-old woman. Mandal, a local of Bihar, was arrested and the lady's scientific exam performed.
The police booked Mandal underneath sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, and so forth), 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and underneath the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. During the case trial, the lady deposed that on March 10, 2015, Mandal took her along at the pretext of marriage. When she realized that he was already married, she asked him to take her again to her folks' space. But he forcibly kept her at his place of abode and raped her, the Class VI scholar added. Even as Mandal pleaded innocence, additional public prosecutor for state S S Haidar sought serious punishment for him at the basis of statements of the victim, the complainant, other prosecution witnesses and scientific exam experiences.
