DIBRUGARH: The Army on Thursday busted an active community of Ulfa (Independent) overground activists by way of apprehending two linkmen of the banned outfit from Sonari the town in Charaideo district.
According to resources, the two linkmen - known as Durlabh Konwar alias Moon (23), a resident of Mahamora and Niranjan Buragohain alias Neon (28), a resident of Barahi Gaon - had been apprehended by way of Army staff of the Maibela Army Camp of the Dao Division near Hotel Diamond in Sonari.
One 9 mm pistol, one mag, two reside rounds and two mobile phones had been recovered from them. Army resources published that the duo have confessed to actively aiding the militant outfit in extortion actions, palms smuggling and recruitment of new contributors on behest of hardcore listed Ulfa (I) leaders operating from Nagaland and Myanmar. The two linkmen had been passed over to Sonari police station where they are being interrogated by way of senior police officers.
