6 persons booked for attacking Jain community head, friend

LUDHIANA: Jagraon town police booked six individuals on Saturday night for attacking the Jain community president and his buddy, and running away with his motorcycle, cash, and cellular after a tiff during elections for office-bearers of the community. The accused were recognized as Churag Jain, Sushil Jain, Sudershan Jain, Deepak Jain, Manish Jain, and Raju Jain — all of Mahantan Mohalla in Jagraon. The injured included Jain community president Ramesh Jain, his buddy Rakesh Jain, and nephew Rahul Jain.

Police officials said trouble started on Friday night during elections of latest office-bearers of the Jain community in Jagraon. They added that when the previous president Ramesh Jain received the elections once more, at the side of 33 different individuals, a group of Jain community individuals had a tiff with the new team individuals. As the two teams had heated arguments after the elections, police reached the spot and managed to chill down tempers, after which the individuals went to their respective puts.


Police officials said that in a while Saturday afternoon, Ramesh and Rakesh were happening a bike close to a popular eatery at the highway, when the accused individuals stopped them, beat them up, and in addition broke a tooth of Ramesh in the attack, prior to running away with his motorcycle, cellular handset, and around Rs41,000 in money. Cops said the accused individuals later caught hold of Rahul, who used to be riding on a bike, and beat him up as well. They added that the injured Ramesh, Rakesh, and Rahul were admitted in the Civil Hospital in Jagraon, after which police were knowledgeable. Cops from Bus Stand police post started a probe.


In-charge of Bus Stand police post, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhbeg Singh, said the accused were booked underneath sections 379-B (snatching), 323 (voluntarily causing harm), 506 (prison intimidation), 148 (rioting, armed with fatal guns) and 149 (each and every member of illegal meeting, responsible of offence dedicated in prosecution of a commonplace object) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He added that they were searching for the opinion of a dental knowledgeable about harm to the tooth of Ramesh. Necessary sections shall be added in the FIR, if a professional recommends it.


Cops said Sukhbeg said Ramesh and Rakesh shall be discharged on Sunday night, adding that raids were being performed to arrest the accused individuals.
