Cauvery: DMK threatens ‘bigger stir'

CHENNAI: DMK working president M Ok Stalin on Thursday threatened to release a “bigger protest” in Tamil Nadu if the Centre continues to dilly-dally about constituting the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

Reacting to a 10-day timeline sought through the Centre on Thursday when the problem got here up ahead of the Supreme Court, Stalin said the Centre had first indicated that the CMB was no longer conceivable, however a scheme could be labored out.


“Despite the closing date of May three, the Centre didn't do a lot and is now requesting extra time. If this is going to be its attitude, then we don't have any different possibility however to release a much larger and prolonged stir in Tamil Nadu. Stalin requested the Karnataka govt to liberate Tamil Nadu’s proportion of four TMC of water for April and May, as directed through the Supreme Court. Unlike the Centre, the Karnataka govt will have to put in force the Supreme Court order, Stalin said.


However, moments later, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah made it clear that the reservoirs in Karnataka didn't have enough water and therefore it was no longer conceivable for the state to liberate water. Karnataka irrigation minister M B Patil too reiterated the similar.
